Connecting with Others Through Gifts

Posted by

In a world that is becoming increasingly complex and demanding, it’s even more important that we stay connected to people. We all want to feel like we belong and are special, and we want to help others feel that way too.

Breaktime

Giving personal and thoughtful gifts allows you to connect more closely with others and bring unexpected happiness into their lives. Nothing feels better than receiving the perfect gift. It doesn't happen by chance; it happens by asking yourself a few key questions and then acting on those answers with creativity and imagination.

What makes them tick? This question sounds obvious, but I can’t tell you the number of people who still buy others what they like. Empathy and thoughtfulness are key to getting the right answers. You honor the people you love when you take the time to give gifts that reflect their interests and desires. Observe, notice, spy if you have to…just be AWARE. Notice what they do in their spare time? Does the person love chocolate? If so, what kind, dark or light? Does the person have a hobby, love golf, ride a motorcycle? There is nothing better than receiving a gift that reflects your interests or tastes. It shows that the giver really cares and that makes the recipient feel fabulous!

What experience do you want to create? We do not remember days in our lives, we remember moments and experiences. Do you want to WOW a client with an end-of-year thank you gift of unusual snacks and confections from all over the world? Do you want to give a family a themed gift that lets them enjoy a movie night supplied with oodles of snacks, popcorn, and matinee candy? Do you want to comfort a friend or employee with teas, lattes, comfort food, and an inspirational book? Decide how you want your recipient to feel and then choose a complimentary gift. When you create a nice experience for people, they will never forget you!

Simply Gourmet

Don’t forget to be good to yourself. Set a dollar amount that you are comfortable with. Consider pooling money with a group to purchase a more extravagant gift. Remember, spending more money on a gift doesn’t necessarily make it a better gift. Personalizing a gift and creating a wonderful experience for that special someone makes a fabulous gift—not a hefty gift budget.
